Some of India's Darkest Skies
At 3,650 metres, with negligible light pollution and thin, dry air, the sky above Ochre reveals the Milky Way as a solid band of light most guests have never seen before.

Spiti's high altitude and near-total absence of cloud cover or artificial light make it one of the best stargazing regions in India. On clear new-moon nights, the Milky Way is visible with the naked eye, along with meteor showers at the right time of year.
Ochre's rooftop terrace is set up for informal stargazing most clear nights, and we can arrange a telescope and a guided walk through the visible constellations for guests who want to go deeper.
Our front desk plans each day around road conditions, season, and how you're feeling at altitude — just tell us what you're hoping for.
