A practical shortlist of what to actually do once you're here, sorted roughly by how much time and altitude tolerance each one needs.
Spiti rewards a mix of easy and ambitious days. Visiting Key Monastery, wandering Kaza's markets, or a short evening walk around Shego require no acclimatisation and are good for your first 24–48 hours.
Once acclimatised, the Hikkim–Komik–Langza loop, a visit to Dhankar and its lake, or a day trip into Pin Valley National Park make good full-day outings, each combining driving with an hour or two of walking.
For those with more time, an overnight at Chandratal, a multi-day trek through Pin Valley, or a longer village homestay round out a stay of 8 nights or more.
Quick Reference
Kaza market, Key Monastery, evening at Ochre.
Hikkim, Komik, and Langza in one loop — post office, monastery, Buddha statue.
Cliffside monastery, the lake trek, and a look into Pin Valley.
Chandratal overnight, or a multi-day trek, if season and time allow.
Ochre is the base to turn any of this into a real itinerary.
