World's Highest Post Office
A cluster of stone houses and barley fields where a single-room post office at 4,440 metres still sends postcards by hand, cancelled with a stamp that says exactly that.
On The Map
Hikkim shares a ridge with Komik and Langza and is best visited as part of the same loop. The post office itself is little more than a desk and a postmaster, but sending a postcard home from here — often to arrive weeks later — has become one of the valley's small rituals for visitors.
Around the village, terraced barley fields turn gold in late summer, and the walking trail onward to Komik takes about 40 minutes across open, wind-scoured ground with views across the whole valley.
